LGBT Histoy

Since the early 1800s LGBT was treated as scum and some of them even put to death in the history of LGBT it shows nothing but hate and death. IN the 1880s i read that a man called the police on a hidden gay couple that met around his house late at nights wen the police heard about it they then brutally beat the gay men and threw them in prison. Then in the 1980s there was a law that said no gay man can donate blood because most gay men contain the AIDs virus which is a stereotype. Now turning the 21st century gay couples are free(in the united states) and are free to marry in 5 states. You can compare the LGBT story to the African American story 1800s worse 1900s getting better and then 21st century Its much better.

Current events "For Gay Employees, an Equalizer"

Who- The people who take place in this article are gay employees and their bosses.

What-These companies are reaching into their own pockets to pay for an extra tax that their gay employees owe on their partners’ health insurance which their married heterosexual co-workers don’t have to worry about because the federal government recognizes them as an economic unit.

Where- This is happening in businesses all over the country

When- This started around late 2010 and still going on until this day.

Why- This is happening because gay employees think that it is unfair that there hetero sexual employees get to have insurances that they cannnot have due to them being gay.

Claryfying question- Why are these companies trying to help their gay employees?

Open Ended question- Do you think that the Gay employees should have these insurances and why?

Famous Gays

Ellen DeGeneres
Daniell Egnew
Wayne Besen
Stephen Donaldson

The person II decided to do was Ellen DeGeneres. Ellen the DeGeneres is a talk show host that has boosted the popularity for gay rights. She has said to been an inspiration for LGBT everywhere. LGBT her inspirational because the day Ellen Degenres came out and said she was gay was on the Oprah Winfrey show international broadcasting. She suffered 3 years being judged and later still came out on top and won 12 Emmys. If i were to ask Ellen a question I would ask her why did she come out why didnt she stay in becuz she would probaly have millions of more fans than she does now.

Gay Stereotypes

One of many gay men stereotypes are all gay men are feminine. The world has potrayed in cartoons and TV shows that gay men all act like women. Yes some gay men act feminene but most dont being gay does not make you a women it just makes you attracted to the same sex. Gay men that act like women do that because its their own choice. Another stereo type of gay men is that they all will die of Aids. Since the late 80s there was a rumor about all gay people containing the AIDS virus. This stereo type came from calculations of doctors that say most of the patients that come in with AIDS are mostly the homosexual male.In the USA, it is estimated that nearly 255,000 Men who have sex with men were living with HIV/AIDS in 2007, and nearly 5,400 had died. Around 48% of all people diagnosed with AIDS in America  in 2007 were probably exposed to HIV through male-to-male sexual contact.

Gay Rights and Laws in the United States

California-Has official registry for same-sex couples and law banning same-sex marriage. Although on 5/15/08 the California Supreme Court ruled that "the right to marry in California extends equally to all, gay and straight alike," Proposition 8 banning gay marriage was approved by voters in November 2008. Although Prop 8 was overturned in August 2010 by U.S. District Court Judge Vaughn Walker, his decision was immediately appealed to the 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals. That trial will begin on December 6, 2010.

Colorado- Has law banning same-sex marriages.

Connecticut- Gay marriage has been legal since 2008.

Only 4 states allow same sex adoption and they are Vermont, New Jersey, Maschechusets and California.

Until 2003, just being a non celibate lesbian or gay man was illegal in many states. These laws were seldom enforced, but the message was unmistakable.
